GAS DRILLING COMPANIES AND THE WATER SUPPLY

Drilling companies are allowed to take water from a river or stream as long as they consider flow conditions provided by the WV Department of Environmental Protection – Oil & Gas Division. NO PERMITS REQUIRED.

Drilling companies are NOT ALLOWED to release or dump anything into a river or stream. If you believe a company is dumping in a river or stream please FILE A COMPLAINT by calling the WV Department of Environment Protection – Oil & Gas Division at: 304-926-0450. Provide a description of the truck and the name of the company. (The DEP must find evidence of dumping to file charges)


NEWS ARTICLES CONCERNING: RADIATION LEVELS DETECTED ON THE EAST COAST.

The Clarksburg Water Board has contacted the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Bureau for Public Health Service in Charleston about the recent News Reports concerning Radiation Levels being detected on the East Coast. The Health Department has advised us that they will begin monitoring water sources in our area for Radiation and at this time there are no known health risks to be concerned with. Also the DEP has reported that trace amount of Radiation being detected at this time pose no health risks.
